When an appliance breaks, the first question is usually whether it is worth fixing. Here is how we help customers decide.
The 50 percent rule
If the repair costs less than half the price of a comparable new appliance, and the unit is in good shape otherwise, repair usually makes sense.
Consider the age
Refrigerators and ranges often last 13 to 15 years, washers and dryers 10 to 13, dishwashers about 10. A repair on a newer appliance is almost always worth it.
Think about the part
Fans, igniters, pumps, belts, sensors and switches are inexpensive repairs. A failed compressor or sealed system on an older fridge is a bigger decision.
Ask for an honest assessment
A good technician tells you the cost before starting and gives you a straight answer about whether the repair is worth it. That is how we work at VoltFix.
